‘Courage is trying another way of managing my symptoms when the last five ways didn’t work.‘
Courage for me is a daily choice to let go of my independence; and wanting to organise, when my body is saying ‘No you can’t’.
It’s allowing other people to care for my family, when I am unable to.
Letting a carer clean me when I would rather clean myself.
Giving myself permission to say ‘no’ when my symptoms disable me and therefore I cannot go out with my family, even though I would rather be with them.
Trying another way of managing my symptoms when the last five ways didn’t work.
Letting the mess in the house be when the people in it are so much more important!
Listening to others who want to advise me and ‘show me a better way of doing things’ for myself and my family… I know I can be stubborn!
‘Courage for me is a daily choice to let go of my independence; and wanting to organise, when my body is saying ‘no you can’t’.’
Saying no to a friend who wants to visit, and I want to see her, yet I know it will damage my health… It can always happen another day.
Taking stock of each day and reflecting on the positive achievements of not only myself, but also my family.
Trust in my creator… He has a good plan for me, and he has given me this courage.
